The presentation was made Saturday, March 6 by Honorary Consul General Gary Gandrud at Lakselaget, a woman’s organization Hoyum co-founded. The medal is conferred as a reward for services in advancing knowledge of Norway abroad and for strengthening the bonds between expatriate Norwegians and their descendants and their country of residence. The announcement about Hoyum is found in this week’s Norway Times, front page, and she will be featured in Mindekirken’s April Communicator.
