The August issue of the Communicator is all about Klubb 500. The idea came up to Larry Hauge (associate member) a few years ago. He saw the need to secure the financial future of Mindekirken by building a fund of $500,000. During the more than 80 years of this congregation, there have been periods when the finances really caused headaches. Not many years ago, the church had less than $10,000 to operate with. But thanks to God and an impressive effort by the Norwegian community in the Twin Cities, the church has been able to survive and expand. The church is in good shape today. The membership is increasing, and the economy is good. The Klubb 500 idea is to secure this status for the future by challenging 1000 people to pledge to give $100 each year for five years. This issue of the Communicator has a presentation of some people on the Klubb 500 committee. Jim Johnson, John Hogenson, Ruth Johnson, Gerd Romdahl, Orlyn Kringstad, Hoover Grimsby, Pr. Dale of Mindekirken, Berit Aas and Andrew Gerling are also Committee members. On page 4, you’ll find the member list of those who already have pledged. Now Klubb 500 encourages you to join. We congratulate Klubb 500 with the fundraising program and wish them good luck!
