Do you support Mindekirken to the fullest of your ability?
By Magne A. Hatlevik

Mindekirken is a very important place in our lives. Since you receive the Communicator, I don’t imagine I have to do a lot of "selling" to remind you of the many good things that Mindekirken does both spiritually and culturally. At the time I am writing this, the stewardship campaign is well underway. The congregation has received some good stewardship messages and personal testimonies during a couple of different services. Stewardship Sunday November 17th, will top off the campaign. Hopefully this year’s stewardship drive will yield sufficient income to support Mindekirken financially in the coming year.

Somewhere else in this publication John Casey, Mindekirken’s treasurer is writing about the large shortfall we have this year in covering the general fund expenses. I believe we are more than $39,000 in the red for the year. Perhaps we together can reconcile this financial picture. Any amount of contribution will be gladly accepted. An envelope has been inserted in the newsletter for your convenience.

Sure, Mindekirken has some immediate financial concerns. For the future financial health of Mindekirken there is a group of concerned individuals led by Larry Hauge. This group formed Klubb 500 whose goal is to raise enough money to ensure that Mindekirken will be on sound financial footing into the future. The motto of Klubb 500 is "Building the future, preserving the past". This 5 year capital fund drive is now in its 2nd year, but there is still time to make your contribution to Klubb 500.

In order to raise awareness of the work that Klubb 500 is doing for Mindekirken they will sponsor a special event at the 11 AM Norwegian Service on December 8. The Barbary Coast Dixieland Band will perform the music at this service. This is going to be a very unique experience at Mindekirken and a service I recommend that you attend.
