2002 Congregation Council by Magne A. Hatlevik I would like to start my very first president's message in the Communicator by presenting the 2002 Congregation Council that was elected at the annual meeting on February 3, 2002. There are rumors circulating that since I was out of the country on a skitrip in Andorra while the council was elected, the nominating committee took the opportunity to nominate me as president. Well, rest assured I did really agree to be nominated before I took that trip. It was a very nice skitrip and I could tell you a lot about it, but that will have to wait for another time. Anyway. Her is the current congregation council: President: Magne A. Hatlevik Board of Deacons: Board of Trustees: As you can see from the above listing, the Council divides into three groups: The Officers, the Deacons, the Trustees – and of course the Pastor, who is also a voting member of the Council. The Council meets monthly, typically at 7 PM on the second Tuesday of each month. In addition, the Executive Committee meets one more time each month, typically at 7PM Tuesday two weeks before the Council meets. The executive committee include the officers, the chair of the Trustees, the chair of the Deacons and the Pastor. The two Boards, the Deacons and the Trustees, has a Chair elected from within by its members, and also a secretary to take and prepare minutes from their meetings. Each of the boards meets at 6 PM on the evening of the Council meeting, with the purpose of preparing resolutions for presentation to the full Council. The Deacons deal with the spiritual matters of the
church – the worship service, Missions. They arrange for pastoral coverage
when our regular pastor is on vacation or otherwise unavailable. All these board members are donating their time and
talent to serve on the congregation council. They were elected by the
congregation to deal with issues that are important to the members of the
church. If you have opinions on a matter regarding Mindekirken, the people to
talk to about it are the ones on the list above.
