Sommeren var kort.

By Magne A. Hatlevik

It sure has been a busy summer at Mindekirken. We have had the pleasure to get to know our new pastor, Jens Arne Dale. In July his wife, Trude and daughters: Linn, Janne and Maria arrived from Norway. One hot July Sunday afternoon we met them all at their "housewarming party" in Bloomington.

Det Norske Solistkor performed in concert on Aug. 8th to a more than full church - truly a top-class ensemble dedicated to the performance of choral music. All together we had a very successful summer concert series. Attendance was great considering the hot weather. Thanks to the dedicated volunteers that helped make these events such a success.

Speaking of volunteers. The summer is just about over and it is time to get back to work. The congregation council has gone through a roster change this summer. Anita Kerssen will finish Earl Grefsrud’s term on the Board of Deacons. Lynn Tesch got a job in Oslo, Norway and had to resign from the council. Gerd Romdahl is taking over Lynn’s term on the Board of Trustees. At the council meeting on August 13, our treasurer Katharine Kragh resigned because of family reasons and Stewart Seorum resigned from the Board of Deacons. The council has not confirmed it yet, but John Casey has accepted the nomination for treasurer. This leaves us with two openings on the Congregation Council yet to be filled.

At Mindekirken there are always other volunteer opportunities. In particular we need volunteers for Usher, Altar Guild and Greeter at the Sunday Services and someone to serve Kirkekaffe after the Sunday services. Should you be interested in any of these opportunities, please come and talk with me about it or call the church office to signup.
