The summer break is over The 2003 Congregational Council met last night for the first time after the summer break. It seemed like such a long time since the last council meeting that I felt I should re-study "Roberts Rules of Order" on how to run a meeting. Everyone was in good spirits, but we missed Priscilla Sorknes who, due to health reasons has resigned as chair of the Trustees. Priscilla will continue as a Trustee, but Paul Knutson was elected to fill the position as new chair of the Trustees. A big thank you to Priscilla for all your work and dedication for a job well done. Congratulations and thank you to Paul for assuming this responsibility. Congratulations also to the Board of Deacons who had 100% attendance at the meeting. The council discussed many of the fall events at Mindekirken and I have to say there are wonderful things to look forward to. With a bit of Luck and help from volunteers, the new addition basement just might be ready for use when the Language Classes start in September. October is full of LEIF events and I am looking forward to that. Of these events, I particularly recommend the Nidarosdomen Boys Choir concert to be held at Mindekirken on October 3. On November 16th, Klubb 500 will again sponsor a special Sunday service featuring the fantastic Barbary Coast Dixieland Band. If you missed last year’s service, make sure and mark your calendar this year. |
