August greeting from the president

Like that famous mythical Minnesota town ‘up north’ – things have been quiet at Mindekirken, my home church. It’s summertime and everyone is out enjoying the sun and summer sports. As I write this, we are traveling with Norwegian relatives across the plains of North Dakota to visit family and see ‘the old home place’.

On the other hand, sometimes Mindekirken is the vacation destination. It’s been our great pleasure to welcome people from all over the United States and Norway to our church and get to know them more during kirkekaffe (church coffee hour). Hopefully, Mindekirken members have been able to visit other churches on their travels.

Soon the halls of Mindekirken will be buzzing with activity again. Sunday School, Tuesday Open House and Language classes will be starting up again. We have a full slate of wonderful events scheduled with Klubb 500 and LEIF festival, but I have to admit, there is another, very special day that has been at the forefront of my thoughts lately. We look forward to seeing everyone back at Mindekirken this fall for another year of worship, fellowship and cultural events.
