A Wish List for the New Year!! As most of you might know, this will be my last article in the Communicator as President at Mindekirken. The annual meeting of the congregation will be on Feb. 6, 2005 and having served three terms, I am not eligible for the position of President of the Congregational Council anymore. Please feel free to stop by and wish our current Vice-President, Cindy Peters, welcome as the new President at Mindekirken. One of my special interests at Mindekirken is its computer technology. It takes computers to produce this newsletter, the Sunday bulletin and the translation of the Pastors sermons. It also takes computers to produce the monthly and annual reports from the treasurer and it takes computers to capture, categorize and account for the giving of each member of the congregation. Already several years old, by technology timekeeping, the Mindekirken office computers are dinosaurs. The trustees have proposed a small Information Technology line item in their budget for 2005. My hope is that this will be enough to move the church accounting from an aging and outdated system to an up-to-date system on Quickbooks Pro for business. In addition, all of the church computers need to be on a modern network for easy sharing of data between computers, including system and virus protection updates. Perhaps the IT budget can be stretched to include a new network application and file server and all the needed software and hardware to make that work. If you look at the Treasurer’s report in this newsletter, you will see that Mindekirken did fine financially last year. Thank you all for your generosity in 2004 and in the New Year, donations to the Computer Fund are welcome. Thanks and God bless you all. Magne A. Hatlevik,
