Mindekirken has chosen a new pastor It wasn’t as dramatic as the scene outside the Vatican. In fact, as one local church put it "If you see smoke coming from our church, call the fire department." There was no smoke at Mindekirken, but there was plenty of coffee and smørbrød when the congregation met on Sunday, June 12th to hear the call committee’s recommendation. Choosing someone to be a spiritual and organizational leader of a church is never an easy task and should not be taken lightly. The call committee and the congregation did an excellent job to work through the decision making process. After thoughtful prayer and discussion a vote was taken and I’m pleased to announce that Pastor Anders Hildeng Næss will be given a letter of call to become Mindekirken’s next pastor. The hard part is over, but the call committee’s work is far from done.We will finalize the call process with the Synod and make arrangements for Pastor Naess to move to Minneapolis this fall. We look forward to Pastor Næss' arrival! God continues to bless Mindekirken by bringing new members, visitors and friends into our lives. Take time to greet these people – as they say, a stranger is just a friend we haven’t met yet. And to our new members, I encourage you to take advantage of the many programs and volunteer opportunities at Mindekirken. It’s a great way to get involved and serve your new church home. Right now, we have a need for ushers, kitchen and grounds helpers. Call me or anyone on the council and we can give you more information. Have a great summer and a super Fourth of July! Yours in Christ, Cindy Peters Council President (651) 264-1608 president@mindekirken.org |
