President’s Message – November 2006

"Bloom Where You’re Planted". It’s a catchy phrase with bright colorful images. The phrase comes to mind when I start to put away my flower pots and gardening tools in preparation for winter. How did my flowers do this summer? Some were planted in a too sunny spot, some plants got too crowded for their pot, but for the most part, I was pleased with them all. I was particularly proud of one good growing plant, when I finally realized to my dismay that it was really just a weed. huff, huff!

November is Stewardship month and an appropriate time to ask, "How is your church garden growing?" You’ve planted yourself at Mindekirken – chosen Mindekirken as your church home – how are you blooming? Have you rooted yourself in the fertile soil of Sunday worship services? How healthy are your Stewardship plants? Stewardship, the giving of one’s time, talent and treasure are likened to the plant’s blossoms and foliage.

Mindekirken’s members are the heart and soul of our church and the flowers in our garden. What kind of flower have you been this year? Now is the time to give prayerful consideration to the stewardship appeal and sign up to help on Sunday, serve on committees or work on special projects. Summer is over, but Mindekirken’s garden is always in season and looking for you to bloom and shine in our beautiful garden.

Yours in Christ,

Cindy M. Hatlevik
Council President
