President’s Message Mindekirken is a busy place these days! Some of us remember when the most traffic through the church was on a Sunday and whenever we had a lutefisk dinner. Now with a number of very active religious study groups, cultural programs and fundraising groups, many of us have remarked on the number of people at the church. More activities at church also mean more work in the church office. After an evaluation, it was clear we needed more help with the bookkeeping. To update our systems and meet the increased accounting needs, a new accounting software program was purchased. Also, a part-time bookkeeper position was advertised then filled by hiring Magne Hatlevik. In addition to a strong background in finance and computers, Magne brings a thorough knowledge of the church’s accounting needs, having served as Treasurer for over two years. Welcome Magne! To fill the open Treasurer position, Lynn Tesch was nominated and elected at the June 12th council meeting. Please join me in congratulating Lynn and expressing our thanks for taking on this important duty. Don’t forget to mark your calendar for a special Congregational meeting to be held on Sunday, July 15th to be held for the purpose of voting on a proposed kitchen remodeling project. Members and associate members should look for the notice in the mail. Yours in Christ, Cindy M. Hatlevik Council President president@mindekirken.org
