Presidentens
spalte - februar 2007 I’ve had a
great time working on genealogy this winter.
It’s been fascinating to see my family’s story unfold in the pages of
census records and vital statistics. There’s
the long and rich history from the forests and fjords of Norway.
An Englishman enters the picture from somewhere around New York, but
eventually they all finally settle in the Dakota prairies. I actually
have two families – my genealogical family and my church family.
Through baptism, we are all members of Christ’s family and those who
have chosen to belong to Mindekirken strengthen those ties even more so.
As families go, we are pretty usual – we have all sorts.
We worship and work together – and I’ll admit – from time to time,
we don’t agree on things. But when
it’s all said and done, we shake hands and greet each other with Christian
love and affection. Staying
in touch with family – here and with those in Norway, can sometimes be a
challenge. We’re often reminded to
“Call your Mother!” Yes, it’s important to keep in touch with your family.
We want to keep in touch with all of our Mindekirken family, too.
That’s why we send you this newsletter.
But there’s no substitute for a warm handshake and maybe a hug or two.
If you’ve been away, we look forward to seeing you in church very soon.
And don’t forget to stay in touch! Yours
in Christ, Cindy
