President’s Message – January 2007 With the holiday celebrations now over, some of us are likely to get the ‘winter blahs’. Unless you are a ski enthusiast itching to clamp on your skis or a ‘snow bird’ heading for the sun, we see a long stretch of cold winter weather ahead. Look inside the cover of this newsletter and I don’t think you will see many people moping around at Mindekirken. The Tuesday Open Program offers a great way to meet each week for warm fellowship, interesting lectures, uplifting programs, a little lunch and a great cup of coffee. Those attending the Norwegian Language and Cultural Program events are eagerly studying language, genealogy or just enjoying a Norwegian film. What a great way to enrich one’s Norwegian cultural life and make new friends in the process! And then, like gardeners pouring over seed catalogs, planning next summer’s garden, there are those at Mindekirken busy tending their spiritual garden. Worship, choir, Bible study, quilts for missions and volunteering for numerous other church service organizations – check out the calendar in this issue or call the office for more information. Make it a New Year’s resolution! A big thank you to everyone who helped make the Christmas worship services and other events at Mindekirken so special. This season’s Santa Lucia program was truly memorable. Mark your calendar for the annual congregational meeting on Sunday, January 28th at approximately 1:00 pm. Cindy M. Hatlevik |
