Nordic Summer
Scandinavians here in the Twin Cities area are really
lucky, you know. We have the luxury of immersing ourselves in our cultural
heritage. This was evident when, on a trip to Texas, I didn’t hear one ‘ya,
sure’ and instead got a whole bunch of “How y’all doin?”. The homemade
tortillas were great, but we were looking for the flatbread. Uff-da.
If we didn’t feel lucky enough, this summer will bring even more opportunities. ‘Nordic Summer’, a program to welcome visitors and promote Minneapolis is scheduled to bring a whole series of wonderful events to the area. In fact, Mindekirken is proud to kick things off with our Syttende Mai festival service on Sunday, May 20th.
