Topic: The Pandemic World of 1918

An earthshaking year -- 1918 -- in Minnesota and beyond.  
Pandemic, war, an altered world in the making, urbanization and industrialization trending up dramatically; fear, too -- fear of the new, of change, of contagion, of death, of communism and, even of what humans seemed to be capable of. In focusing on 1918 we'll explore some of these dramas, focusing on Norwegian Minnesota. 
Raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Annette Atkins turned herself into an historian of Minnesota and the United States She taught for 35 years at Saint John's University and the College of Saint Benedict. Atkins served on the board of the Western Historical Association and the Minnesota Historical Society and is currently a member of the Norwegian American Historical Association.
