The presentation will explore the larger theological, social, and ethnic influences upon design through the disappearance of altar-pulpits (prekestolalter) from Norwegian-American churches. The presentation will consider what makes a sanctuary "truly" Norwegian-American Lutheran.

The journey of an object to Vesterheim. In this presentation Chris will talk about a piece of anchor chain from the German cruiser Blücher, that was sunk in the early hours of the invasion of Norway in 1940, and how it eventually ended up at Vesterheim.
