Music plays an important role in national identity as certain songs are associated with particular key events. Please join us for a sing-a-long in celebration of the history of the United States of America where we have sung patriotic and protest songs during times of war and times of peace.

In August of 1862, men who had recently settled across Minnesota answered President Lincoln’s call for more troops to fight the Confederacy. Many of those volunteers were formed into the Eighth Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Regiment where they had extraordinary experiences.

Will Weaver’s grandfather emigrated from Norway to Minnesota in 1904. In 2017, Will Weaver's son left Minnesota to marry and live in Norway. While “Norwegian-ness” surfaces often in Weaver's short stories and novels, the sudden “return” of Norway to his present life forced a literary reckoning.
