Leif’s program will include information about the Vikings and Leif Ericsson, the first European to set foot in North America, 500 years before Columbus. Our presenter was only 17 years old on America's first Leif Ericson Day. He will share his memories expanding it to share about the Vikings.

About the event
The 1st Leif Erikson Day (then Leif Ericsson Day) celebration was held in Washington, DC on October 9, 1964. Leif Erickson will tell a personal story about the event. In addition to the Washington DC ceremony, Leif’s program will also include information about the Vikings and Leif Ericsson, the first European to set foot in North America, 500 years before Columbus. Leif was only 17 years old when this event occurred. He will share his memories expanding it to share about the Vikings in a power point presentation.
