About the event
Alzheimer's disease profoundly impacts families by creating heavy emotional, financial, and physical burdens for caregivers and loved ones. Over half of primary caregivers report high emotional stress, depression, or anxiety, and 1 in 3 report high physical stress or worsening health. As a licensed social worker, Nancy worked at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital in Minneapolis, three nursing homes, and in home care. She also worked for the Alzheimer's Association as well as managing the first dementia unit in Minnesota. In the early 1990s, Gov. Rudy Perpich appointed Nancy to the Governor's Task Force on Dementia. In the state of Wisconsin, she received the "Pursuit of Excellence Award." In 2019, Gov. Tony Evers recognized Nancy's contributions to the field of dementia care.
