Doug will speak about the westward movement of Icelanders from their initial arrival points through the creation of Icelandic churches and congregations. Doug is a third generation Iceland-American. His great-grandparents emigrated to Duluth, Minnesota, where they met, married, and raised a family.

About the event
Doug will speak about the westward movement of Icelanders from their initial arrival points through the creation of Icelandic churches and congregations.
Doug is a third generation Iceland-American. His great-grandparents emigrated to Duluth, Minnesota, where they met, married, and raised a family on a dairy farm. He came to his interest and passion for all things Icelandic through his Dad’s genealogy research and involvement in the Twin Cities Icelandic community. He has been to Iceland several times, and is planning at least one trip in 2027. Presented as part of LEIF 2026, leifmn.org
