About the event

Norwegian immigrants brought with them several Norwegian hymnals which had the hymns they had used at home and would use in America. It was a rich treasury supplemented by several hymnal made by the immigrant churches here in America. When the Lutherans in America began doing joint hymnals, many of the treasury of Norwegian hymns were dropped either because they did not appeal to the Eastern Lutherans editors. The bicentennial hymnal we did represents some of the most beloved hymns, forgotten here but still lively in Norway, so those wanting to remember their forebears’ faith have a resource in English. The session will involve singing and talk about the hymns in the new hymnal, some new from Norway, and beloved.
