Many of the most beloved Norwegian hymns did not live beyond the Service Book and Hymnal (red) of 1958. We will sing both the ones we still have in our memory and reconnect with the real treasury of hymns we should know for the holiday.

About the event
The hymns around Christmas are the ones we know by heart. We know them mostly because they have been passed on to us through our families who learned them from hymnals. In the great move from Norwegian to English, and the production of hymnals by Lutheran committees who were not familiar with the Norwegian tradition, many of the most beloved did not live beyond the Service Book and Hymnal (red) of 1958 because most on the committee did not know them. We will sing both the ones we still have in our memory and reconnect with the real treasury of hymns we should know for the holiday.
