About the event
Dr. Moe draws on medieval sagas and modern scholars to chronicle King Harald Hardrada’s audacious, far-flung, and colorful career. At age 15, Harald was wounded at the Battle of Stiklestad, where his half-brother Olaf—later canonized as Norway's patron saint—was killed. Harald amassed a fortune as a Viking and a mercenary, which fueled his return to Norway in 1046 to claim the crown. His life ended in 1066 during a failed attempt to conquer England, a fateful year that marked the end of the Viking Age.
